I have been a regular contributor to Homes and Gardens magazine for the past six years, and currently write two monthly features for the title.
‘Designer Secrets’ focuses on the work of internationally acclaimed garden designers and landscape architects, and for this feature I have interviewed Andy Sturgeon, Piet Oudolf, Ulf Nordjfell, Tom Stuart-Smith, Dan Pearson, Anthony Paul, Jill Billington, and Declan Buckley, to name a few.
‘Design Solutions’ takes various garden themes, such as Natural Gardens, Using Vistas, Water Features, Garden Rooms, Autumn Colour, and Fusion Designs, and offers style and design advice on the chosen subject.
I am the consultant editor and write many of the features for this annual gardening title, which is mailed to four million homes in the vicinity of Tillington garden centres, which include Squires, Webbs, Ruxley Manor and Van Hague. The title is designed to appeal to both beginners and more experienced gardeners, and includes new plants, practical step-by-steps, and horticultural know-how.
I write the news pages for this prestigious monthly title. I also write occasional features for the magazine on garden designers and design events.
I have written a number of features for this magazine over the years. The first was a series on basic botany, explaining how plants work; the second outlined various gardening techniques, such as preparing your soil, planting, and pruning methods; the third was a series on garden styles, from Islamic to Modernist, explaining what they are, how they developed, and showcasing the work of iconic designers who led these movements.
I have written a number of features for the Weekend Magazine on planting ideas, how to find and commission a garden designer, and keeping the interest going throughout the year.
I occasionally write features on real people’s gardens for this magazine.
I have produced a range of features for this magazine, including lighting gardens, tips to transform your outdoor space, creating a garden theme, and using colour in the garden.
